The guiding principle of Vietnam Veterans of America is “NEVER AGAIN WILL ONE GENERATION OF VETERANS ABANDON ANOTHER”. Here at Chapter 10 we proudly embrace that principle in our mission to serve both veterans and the broader community. Over the years we have provided support to veterans in need through transitional housing, holiday food baskets and other services. In addition, of course, we promote respect and camaraderie within our membership through our regular Chapter meetings and social activities.
In 1997 we started a scholarship program for veterans, their children and dependents, to assist them in pursuing higher education. A few years later we expanded scholarship eligibility to also include grandchildren of veterans. To date we have awarded total funds of over $100,000 through over 120 scholarships to deserving students. Chapter 10 regularly makes donations to worthy organizations such as American Red Cross, Joseph House, Crayons to Computers, American Cancer Society, Compass Retreat Center, Greater Cincinnati Honor Flight, My GI Foundation and Public Television Channel WCET, where we also help out with volunteers during WCET’s annual Action Auction fund drive.
Our Chapter also lends financial support to disaster relief causes, most recently in Florida, Louisiana, Texas and Puerto Rico. Chapter 10 annually presents ceremonies at the Vietnam Memorial in Cincinnati’s renowned Eden Park, on Memorial Day in May and Veterans Day in November, and we sponsor a community open house luncheon on Veterans Day at our Chapter house.
Our Chapter Color Guard is available for the following functions: Funerals, Memorials, and Rifle Salutes (read more).
As a non-profit veterans organization we welcome and very much appreciate tax-deductible donations to support our mission. Contributions can be made to VVA Chapter 10, and sent to us at 8418 Reading Road, Reading, OH 45215.
